Pete Tancred


Peter Arthur Pete Tancred is a former athlete, and professional strongman from England. He competed at the 1976 Montreal Olympics in the discus and came sixth at the 1978 Commonwealth Games. In 1984 he competed in Britains Strongest Man coming second behind Alan Crossley and two years later won Britains Most Powerful Man, the replacement for the absent Britains Strongest Man competition that year.

Tancred was born onOctober 1949 in Quetta, Balochistan, Pakistan, the younger brother of Bill Tancred. In Britain he became affiliated to Queens Park Harriers in London. He competed at the 1976 Montreal Olympics and came sixth at the 1978 Commonwealth Games. Domestically, he was the British Champion twice , following in the footsteps of his brother Bill who won the title seven times. In 1984 he competed in Britains Strongest Man coming second behind Alan Crossley and two years later won Britains Most Powerful Man, the replacement for the absent Britains Strongest Man competition that year.
